Black History Month 2023 Resources

Black history is a subject to be taught daily in schools.  These resources are offered in support of February as a time to reflect on our teaching of Black history and to celebrate Blackness.
 

Black History Month Theme: Black Resistance

ASALH establishes a theme for each Black history month.  This year’s theme is Black Resistance.

Reading Is Fundamental Black History Month Calendar 2023

This calendar focuses on the birthdays of famous Black Americans and offers leveled children’s books and complementary resources.  This calendar will provide children who are learning Black History the opportunity to analyze it and notice what is included and what is missing.

 

Association For The Study of African American Life And History (ASALH) Calendar 2023

ASALH was founded by Dr. Carter G. Woodson the founder of Black History Week.  Its Black History Month calendar offers adult events that are virtual and in-person throughout the United States of America.

 

A History of Racial Injustice Daily Calendar From The Equal Justice Institute(EJI)

The Equal Justice Institute (EJI) offers daily remembrances of racial injustice in the United States of America.

Black History Nerds Saturday School 2023

Dr. LaGarrett King is a passionate historian who calls all Black History Nerds together each Saturday morning in February as well as throughout the school year to talk about Black history.
